A morning provides a fresh start and the opportunity to begin something new. God gave us a new day and it’s up to us to make the best of it. He trusts us with a new day and His word tell us just how much He loves us by giving us a new day.

22 Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.

23 They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness

Lamentations 3:22-23 (NIV)

You have a choice in the morning to set the tone for the entire day. Chances are if you have a bad morning, you are likely to bring those vibes with you throughout the day. But it does not have to be this way. Why wouldn’t you want to start your day off on a great note? My advice:  Find what makes you happy in the morning time. Me, I love waking up with God!

I give God my first fruits each morning. That fruit is my time. I give God my time because He gave me this day and He trusts me with it. I know I have to depend on Him throughout the day. I know I cannot make it through the day without His presence. God never leaves us but at the same time, He does not intrude on us either. We have to intentionally tap into our connection with Him.

So, I get in my prayer position and I read a devotional and pray. My prayer position can be on the side of bed kneeling or sitting on the floor comfortably. I’ve also sat in my bed and I’ve sat cross legged on my bed bench. The point is, do what is comfortable for you. I have adapted to this routine over the course of a few months,  and it has changed the way I view mornings. I used to be one of those people who would rush in the morning time. I would get up and rush and get ready to work or even on the weekends, rush like I am going to work to get out the door. I had to be intentional to make small changes to my morning routine. With small changes, you see impactful results in the long run. I see now that starting my day with God creates an intimacy with Him and I allow Him to use me for His will to complete certain tasks throughout the day.

You have to start somewhere. Maybe you can set your alarm to get up an extra 5 minutes each day until you have a desired time to get up and talk with God. Find a devotional website that loads a new post each day. There are also tons of books that that provide devotionals, scriptures, and prayers. Pray to God that He will lead to you something that will inspire you to make that extra push in the morning. Trust me, He is worth your time and investment.
