After reading the short passage of 2 Chronicles 34:14-33, you cannot help but to wonder or be curious about the children of Israel and what exactly did they do to upset God!

I went back a few chapters in Chronicles to see how did we get here. I found in Chronicles 29, Hezekiah began his reign at 25 years old. He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord. Hezekiah reigned for 29 years. During this time, he purified and repaired the Temple. Hezekiah had a son, Manesseh, who "was twelve years old when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty-five years in Jerusalem( 2 Chronicles 33:11). He did evil and abominations. He rebuild the high places and false idols that his father, Hezekiah, tore down (2 Chronicles 33-3-8).

Manessah had a son, Amon, (2 Chronicles 22:21-22) and his servants conspired against him and put him to death in his house, ( 2 Chronicles 33:24).

There are consequences of disobedience. If you ever wanted to read them, they can found here

Deuteronomy 27:15-26, Deuteronomy 28:1-68

Do you think King Josiah was suffering from the sins of his fathers?

Have you ever been convicted like King Josiah upon learning the truth about something?

Josiah was now King. And after discovering the Book of Law he realized he had not been fulfilling the Lord commandments as the nations leader. He tore his clothes, as a sign a grief. He inquired Lord about the forgotten book and he knew he needed to hear from someone that had a relationship with God.

We find also that the Lord spoke to Jeremiah about this in Jeremiah 15: 3-4

“I will send four kinds of destroyers against them,” declares the Lord, “the sword to kill and the dogs to drag away and the birds and the wild animals to devour and destroy.  I will make them abhorrent to all the kingdoms of the earth because of what Manasseh son of Hezekiah king of Judah did in Jerusalem."

Huldah was a wardrobe specialist and in today's world, I envision her as a fashionista! Huldah was a prophetess because she was a messenger from God and spoke with powerful authority in verses 2 Chronicles 34:23-28.. Although her presence is not large like the other prophets in the bible, her voice of God still brings a important lesson. Huldah teaches us that obedience is better than sacrifice. People are destroyed by lack of knowledge. We are all apart of God's body!

Why did God choose Huldah to deliver this message to King Josiah?

What message is God trying to deliver through you?
